New size for paperbacks in the series

The paperback editions of Part 1 and Part 2 of a Journey into Modern Physics, were originally produced in a 5" by 8" print format. When the paperback for Part 3 was first produced, we decided to try the next format up, 6" by 9", to see if it made a big difference. And it did!

There are lots of detailed diagrams and tables in Part 3 and the additional page space made a massive difference to the readability of the images. So, it was decided to change the format across all three Parts of the series to 6" by 9".

The three paperbacks are now available only in the new 6" by 9" format. This change does not affect the e-book versions.

Why produce both e-books and paperbacks?

The series is aimed at all age groups; some of us like to read from books that we can put on a bookshelf and some of us prefer the convenience of having books on phones, tablets or e-readers. We aim to please!

The contents of both the e-books and the paperbacks, in the main series, are identical. The new LIGHT series is intended for potential school leavers, contemplating careers in science or engineering and the LIGHT adaptation of the main series is designed to assist in the transformation from school science to university thinking. It still contains all the topics in the main series, but with less detail and more emphasis on the main aspects of the underlying physics. The LIGHT series will only be published as e-books.

So, if you want to know why people who tell you that atomic bombs are due to E=mc2 are wrong, you'll find the answer in Part 2 of the main series, either in the e-book or the paperback, or in the part 2 e-book of the LIGHT series. Perhaps you might want to know about the Higgs field and how it imparts mass to fundamental particles, then the Part 1 e-book, or paperback, or the Part 1-LIGHT e-book will tell you.

Part 1-LIGHT is already available, Part 2-LIGHT will be available soon, to be followed some time later by Part 3-LIGHT.
